imageTroika is the technical fest r e m i n i s c e n c e - T R O I K A 0 9 of IEEE-DCE student’s chapter which is held every year usually in the month of February. This year the fest lasted for four days that comprised of many competitions to keep the enthusiastic students interested in the fest. The Opening ceremony took place in the newly constructed auditorium on the 23rd of February where the representatives of the various societies gave a brief introduction about their respective societies. Mr. Aditya Chauhan, Chairperson and Treasurer of IEEE-DCE gave a motivational speech on IEEE DCE and its annual fest Troika’09. Radix was the first major event on the first day right after the inauguration. imageIt was a robotic competition where the participants had to design and construct a robot according to the conditions laid down by the organisers. It had 3 sub-events – Platypus, Wild Weasel and Tagasunod. Platypus was a water challenge where the basic aim was to test the design manoeuvrability and concept of a robot. Wild weasel was an obstacle course race and Tagasunod was a line follower competition. The tracks were very vast and were made in a real large arena covering the whole of OAT (Open Air Theatre).
imageThere were over 100 entries in the event and the event was covered by the popular News Channel NDTV. The Troika Times, better known as Triple T (TTT), was also published which provided a very good insight of the behind the scenes action. No one was spared, all the members who worked hard for the fest to get going were mentioned in it.

Day 3 started with the Junkyard finals with 6 teams participating. Brainwave and Ether Avatar were the other events going along. Brainwave was the hardware presentation competition. The contestants were pushed to their limit to develop newer imagedevices. It was divided into two segments - Plethora and Acumen. Ether Avatar was a general knowledge quiz which tested the participants in all walks of knowledge. It provided a perfect stage to pit the best brains against each other.

Day 4 was the concluding day for the fest with the final event being SPAC. It is a student-industry interaction program which involves presentation and workshops from various industrial houses to guide the students and make them aware of the latest technologies and trends in the industry today. SPAC was conducted in the auditorium.

imageBeginning with the start of the festival from scratch to its culmination with ‘The Green convention - Environmental symposium’ , INNOVA green ‘09 was a joyride for all its participants and organisers with an aim to showcase the aptitude of budding engineers through various competitive technical events, symposiums and expositions. To me, it provided an oppurtunity to introduce and implement the innovations i had pondered over during my involvment as volunteer in previous years. The division of work amongst concept, events, web, corporate, infrastructure teams provided us with an insight into handling responsibility in an applied management system. i thank our sponsors who supported and showed confidence in us despite such times of economic downturn. I would like to mention the efforts and guidance provided by Mr. Pulkit Mathur and Mr. Mayank Jain that helped us in attaining the quality of events that it reached. I thank our faculty advisors Prof. S.Maji and Prof. R.C.Singh & congratulate my fellow student organisers and volunteers whose efforts led to the successful completion of INNOVA 09. Looking forward to a grander and much riper INNOVA 10
