Directors' Address
It is pleasure to see that having tasted the success of the first issue of the DCE times, the editors are bringing out the second issue. This is the time when the spirit of creativity and enterprise is upbeat in DCE community and that the E-Summit and INNOVA are being held in DCE campus along with Engifest. This is the time to show case the Innovations at DCE as also to pool together the brain waves of the intelligent student community visiting DCE on the festive events to create a pool of innovative ideas for a better tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s engineers are required to be highly sensitive to take care of the society and Mother Nature. For this we need to nurture strong moral and ethical foundation in our students while they are in studies. This is a major challenge apart from meeting the challenge of Knowledge revolution. I am sure the technical and cultural festival at DCE and similar fests at other Universities and technical institutions shall pay a greater attention to integrating ethics and morality in education in the coming years.
May I wish the publication a great success..

Editor's Pen
It’s been a privilege for me to be working as a student editor for DCE times. The newspaper has not only provided me a platform to reach out to the people but also enabled me to develop as a writer. And so far we have been successful in dazzling students and teachers alike with the content of DCE times. My aim as an editor is not only to keep readers abreast with the events being convened at DCE, but also enchant them with an element of entertainment. That I have accomplished by inculcating the newspaper with articles from student writers who wish to share experiences at one of the most prestigious colleges of our country, that is DCE. We have received phenomenal response which is not only confined to the precincts of the DCE campus.
But the journey hasn’t been any sort of a bliss. We, at DCE times have been working day in and day out in an attempt to woo the readers and live up to their expectations. We have been bandying to and fro in indecision over whether to launch DCE’s very own newspaper or not, and that to for the past 3-4 months. But eventually we took the initiative in order to reach out to the masses and help make DCE a better and enjoyable place to study. And DCE times wouldn’t have faced the light of day if it wasn’t for the unrelenting support and cooperation of our respected Director, Professor P.B. Sharma.
Recently we attended DCE’s alumni meet at FICCI auditorium, Tansen Marg where around 2000 former students had gathered together. We were left agape at the impact our newspaper had created on them as they extolled our efforts and even wanted to send in articles written by them. We are currently in talks with them and most probably you will get to witness those articles in our 3rd edition. Till then, relish this 2nd edition of DCE times and immerse yourself in complete “masti”, because the time is now, the time is DCE!
Sovereign Rooks the Techx Challenge
Team DCE took part in the TechX challenge organized byDepartment of Science and Technology Agency(DSTA), Singapore government. The competition required the participating teams to build an Autonomous Defence Robot (ADR). Some of the tasks required the robot to autonomously navigate through a field with the help of GPS coordinates. It was supposed to enter a building through stairs. Then it had to navigate to a specific room on a specified floor by operating a lift.
There it had to identify and engage targets. After this, it had to come back to its original starting point. All this was supposed to be done within 90 minutes. Team DCE built the challenging robot and named it “Sovereign”. The team gave a commendable performance there and finished amongst the top 10 teams of the world. The team was broadly divided into separate modules such as Mechanical, Image Processing, Sensor Integration, Artificial Intelligence, etc and consisted of students from computer, production and electronics and communication from first and second year students of the 2007-08 batch.
We congratulate the team on their success!!
DCE Applies for ACCREDITATION
The electrical and mechanical Departments of DCE has applied for ACCREDITATION as per the international norms in the first week of February. For the purpose of accreditation two expert teams from NBA (National Board of Accreditation) and IBA (International Board of Accreditation) will visit our Campus.
The evaluation of the expert team will be based on various aspects like Faculty Qualification, Student Technical Activities, Laboratory facilities, Department facilities, Number of Faculty (holding Ph.D degrees), International Achievements of Students as well as Faculty, facilities available within the Campus and Placements. All these aspects are quantified and the ranking will be evaluated on the scale of 750.
Expert teams will stay in the college campus to carry out the evaluation procedure. If the college gets Accredited then the students can transmigrate their credits to the institutions within india and abroad have same accreditation. The accreditation will be valid for five years. This Accreditation initiative is under a pact between Washington accord and Government of India.
