Krishna and Christ
1. Both were preceded by a "forerunner" born a short time before them.
2. Each was born in a city away from home where his father was on tax business.
3. Krishna was born in a cave.Jesus was born in a stable. However, Quintus Tertullian (third century), St Jerome (fourth century), and other Church fathers claimed that Jesus, too, was born in a cave. Frederick W. Farrar, Nineteenth-Century Canon: That the actual place of Jesus' birth was a cave is a very ancient tradition, and this cave used to be shown as the scene of the event even so early as the time of Justin Martyr.
4.In infancy, both Krishna and Jesus were sentenced to death by kings who viewed them as pretenders to the throne. Due to this threat:Krishna's father was warned by a heavenly voice "to fly with the child to Gacool, across the river Jumna. Jesus' father was warned in a dream, "...rise and take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt..."
5.One of these kings then ordered "the massacre in all his states of all the children of the male sex during the night of the birth of Krishna" The other, Herod, "...sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem, and in all that region, who were two years old or under..."
6.One of both Krishna and Jesus' first "miracles" performed as adults was the curing of a leper.
7.Urged by Krishna to make a request, a man replied: " 'Above all things, I desire to have my two dead sons restored to life.' Immediately they were brought to life and came to their father" "While [Jesus] was thus speaking to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying: 'My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live....' But when the crowd had been put aside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose"
8. Either a poor cripple or a lame woman came with "a vessel filled with spices, sweet scented oils, sandalwood, saffron, civet, and other perfumes, and made a certain sign on [Krishna's] forehead, casting the rest upon his head". "Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to him with an alabaster box of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head, as he sat at the table"
9. Both washed the feet of their disciples
10. Both had a beloved disciple (Charles Wilkes, trans., The Bhagavat Gita, or Dialogues of Krishna and Arjun, in Eighteen Lectures With Notes
11. Krishna said: "Let him, if seeking God by deep abstraction, abandon his possessions and his hopes, betake himself to some secluded spot, and fix his heart and thoughts on God alone" . Jesus said: "But when you pray, go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Krishna said: "I am the light in the sun and the moon, far, far beyond the darkness. I am the brilliancy in flame, the radiance in all that's radiant, and the light of lights" Jesus said: "I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life
12. Krishna said: "I am the sustainer of the world, its friend and Lord. I am its way and refuge" Jesus said: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me"
13. Krishna said: "I am the Goodness of the good; I am Beginning, Middle, End, Eternal Time, the Birth, the Death of all". Jesus said: "Fear not, I am the first, and the last, and the living one; I died, and behold I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hell".
14. Both "descended" to hell.
15. Both "ascended" to heaven before witnesses
16. Both are said to have been God incarnate:"Krishna is the very Supreme ,though it be a mystery how the Supreme should assume the form of a man". "Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion; He manifested in the flesh...".
17. Before death, Krishna was pierced with an arrow, and Jesus with a spear
18. When Krishna died, it is said that a black circle surrounded the moon, the sun was darkened at noon, the sky rained fire and ashes, and spirits were seen everywhere . When Jesus died, the sun was darkened from the sixth to the ninth hour, graves were opened, and saints rose and entered the city.
19.Both were "resurrected".
20. "Krishna will return in the end days as an armed warrior (Kalki), riding on a winged white horse. He will destroy the wicked then living. The sun and the moon will be darkened, the earth will tremble, and the stars will fall". "Immediately after the tribulation of those days [following Jesus' "return"] the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken"
Legacy Continues
The moonwalk or backslide is a dance technique that presents the illusion that the dancer is stepping forward while actually moving backward, giving the appearance of a person moving along a conveyor belt. The dance gained worldwide popularity after Michael Jackson executed it during his performance of his song "Billie Jean" on the March 25, 1983, television special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, and was considered his signature move. The moonwalk has since become one of the best known dance techniques in the world. The step has two distinct types. One is called the turn walk. This is usually performed very quickly giving the impression that the dancer is walking quickly in a circle. The other circular moonwalk type is known as the 360 or Four-Corner Moonwalk and is often done much more slowly in a floating style. This involves sliding a heel back (usually the left heel), pivoting both heels to change direction, and then pivoting the non-sliding heel 45 degrees. Other moonwalk variants include the "sidewalk" or "side glide", in which the dancer appears to glide sideways, and the "spotwalk", in which the dancer appears to moonwalk in place.

WHEN S E R E N D I P I TY STRIKES......
What does the discovery of x-rays by William Roentgen and neoprene by Charles Goodyear have in common? They were all the result of serendipity. According to the oxford dictionary Serendipity is defined as the ‘ability of making fortunate and unexpected discoveries by accident’. In examining many of science’s most famous moments, serendipity has played a crucial role and we owe a debt to serendipity for some of the greatest discoveries in science. However, one needs to be aware that many of the principal beneficiaries of serendipity ‘clearly recognized’ the difference between an accident and an accidental discovery. There are several instances to illustrate that many revolutionary scientific discoveries were indeed made by serendipity. To cite a few: Newton’s encounter with the falling apple, James Watt’s conjectures about steam in response to the behavior of the lid on a teapot, Fleming’s discovery of penicillin as a result of observing bacteria being killed by mould, discoveries of the laws of planetary motion, X-rays, quantum mechanics and antimatter. Microwaves are now an essential household item, but only a handful of us know the story behind the development. In 1946, Percy Spencer, an engineer and inventor, was conducting radar- related research. While testing a new type of vacuum tube – the magnetron- he noticed that a chocolate bar he had in his pocket had melted. Intrigued, Spencer began conducting more experiments. He watched popcorn “pop” and bounce around the room when he held a bag of uncooked kernels up to the tube. He adapted his discovery thereby giving the world the first commercial microwave oven, the “Radarange”. In the fields of medicine and pharmacology and in particular the discovery of new drugs, serendipity abounds. Penicillin, aspirin, quinine, cisplatin and Viagra represent a small fraction of drugs discovered while researchers were conducting totally unrelated experiments. Focusing on some serendipitous discoveries will make us realize how planned insights coupled with unplanned events and open mindedness can yield meaningful and interesting discoveries. The capacity to spot the significance of such trivial things is one of the features that differentiate the mind of skilled scientist from that of a beginner or a novice. It is important to note that these discoveries have not been solely because of luck. Percy Spencer discovered the effect of low density microwave energy while conducting radar related work. Joseph von Mering and Oscar Minkowski understood the relationship between the pancreas and diabetes while trying to study the role of pancreas in digestion. All these examples suggest that serendipity involves prepared, curious and open minded people. So next time you work in the lab and find something unusual, be curious and observe it carefully. You never know that might result in you winning a Nobel Prize for your stupendous discovery…. All the best!!!!!
